Hi, my name is Nicola and I'm an hacker. Specifically I love to define myself an hybrid hacker. I'm passionate about so many things and I always try to combine them to achieve better results.
What I do
- I'm Director of Cloud at Namecheap, one of the biggest domain registrars in the world
- Currently I lead 4 technical teams building Namecheap Cloud products
- The most famous and active one is EasyWP, a WordPress managed hosting built on top of Kubernetes and other bleeding edge technologies
- Previously I owned a web/mobile agency, a (funded) startup and I worked for famous Italian firms as a freelance
- I'm a tech/geek guy and while I love to get my hands dirty, in the last years I focused my career on growing super talented teams to build great SaaS/Cloud products
- Despite my leadership role, I'm pretty experienced with most of today's trending technologies
- While I don't have a real background as a developer, in the last years I started filling the gap
- Goes without saying, I can read and possibly debug any kind of code in any language
What I know
- I've hands-on experience both with private and public Cloud
- I'm absolutely in love with Kubernetes and containers in general
- I've experience with CI/CD pipelines and lastly I'm a big fan of Gitpos practices
- In the past I worked on VMware, KVM/libvirt and Openstack
- Currently I'm more focused on private cloud, but I work with AWS, GCP and DO time to time
- As I stated above, I don't consider myself a senior developer, but I really love coding
- I'm fluent enough in Python and I've a decent experience with FastAPI framework and SQLAlchemy ORM
- I'm learning a bit of Golang to write Kubernetes Operators
- For personal fun/projects I started learning ASM
- I know how to build successful products based on bleeding edge technologies
- Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban and how to tailor them on different teams
- How to spot/hire talented ppl and grow technical teams
- How to deal with remote working and lead remote teams (I've 15+ years of experience with that)
- Entrepreneurship and a bit of business and design due to my previous experiences
- In general I can say I'm a good bridge between tech and non tech people
What I don't know
- While I always wanted to, public speaking doesn't make me too comfortable
- Math. My mind is too flexible to accept math ๐
- A lot of other things that one day I would like to learn
What I enjoy in my free time
- ๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ Trying to do my best to be a good daddy
